Work platforms, which have gradually become ubiquitous in our daily lives, are raising questions about employment law in more ways than one: are work platforms employers? Should platform workers be considered as employees? How should we view the role of algorithms in platform activity? How can we reconcile macro-economic opportunities with individual protection against risks?
The aim of this paper is to take stock of the controversies in this area and to identify possible ways of regulating these entities under employment law, so as to reconcile economic opportunities with worker protection.
