Pierre-Alain Roche is Chairman of the Mobility and Transport Section of the General Inspectorate for the Environment and Sustainable Development (IGEDD) at the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion.

From 2014 to 2016, he was a member of the General Council for the Environment and Sustainable Development (CGEDD), at the Ministry of Ecology, Energy and the Sea.

From 2009 to 2013, he was Deputy Director General in charge of regional planning at the Hauts-de-Seine Departmental Council.

In 2008, he was Strategy Adviser to the General Secretariat at the Ministry of Ecology, Energy, Sustainable Development and Town and Country Planning (prefiguration of the CGDD).

Other current positions include: President of the Transport Committee of the Economic Commission for Sustainable Development and member of that Commission, General Rapporteur of the Infrastructure Orientation Council, Chairman of the Technical Committee for the new Provence-Côte d'Azur line, Director of RATP (Chairman of the Economy and Strategy Committee), interim Chairman for 2 months at the end of 2022.

He also teaches at the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées and the Ecole Polytechnique.
