Baptiste Astrade

Baptiste Astrade is a graduate of the Institut d'Études Politiques de Sciences Po Bordeaux. A product of the Franco-Portuguese programme, he holds a master's degree in political science and institutional relations from the IEP, as well as a master's degree in sociology from the University of Coimbra in Portugal.
He began his career at the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, first at the French Embassy in Cape Verde as an international cooperation officer, then in Paris as an editor on environmental and food issues related to land degradation. In this capacity, he participated in the negotiation of European positions at COP15 of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, held in Abidjan in 2022.
Committed to issues of environmental transition and territorial resilience, he then joined the City and Metropolis of Nantes as a policy advisor. He supports elected officials on a wide range of issues such as climate, agriculture, the economy, artificial intelligence, employment, urban planning and the fight against discrimination. After several years working with local authorities and teaching a master's degree course on the challenges facing cities in adapting to and mitigating climate change, Baptiste joined the Governance and Regulation Chair in March 2026.
