From 2003 to 2012, Daniel Dobbeni was CEO of the Elia Group, the Belgian – German Transmission System Operator (TSO) after the acquisition of 50Hertz GmbH, of which he was Chairman till Sept 2015. During his tenure, he led - together with RTE - the incorporation of Coreso, the first monitoring centre for cross-border power flows and of Belpex, the Belgian Power Exchange. He was also, director of APX Endex and EPEX Spot SE, until their merging in Oct 2015.

From 2006 to 2014, he was chairman of the Federation of Electricity and Gas TSOs and DSOs, and was the first President of ENTSO-E from 2008 to 2013. He then became Chairman of KIC InnoEnergy Benelux and board member of KIC InnoEnergy S.E, one of the first Knowledge and Innovation Communities.

In 2014 he became President of GO15 whose members are the 18 largest Power Grid Operators in the world. He was appointed Chairman of the Energy Commission of the Federation of the Belgian Enterprises and Chairman of the Energy Platform of the Vlerick Business School.

In 2012, he incorporated Ethan SPRL providing consultancy services as well as serving as independent board member.
