The two priorities of the new European Commission raise essential questions of governance. Global solutions need to be developed. We also need to manage changes in the behaviour of all economic and social players. Last but not least, innovation processes need to be successfully implemented, with redistributive consequences that affect economic, social and political cohesion.
To mark its fifth anniversary, the 'Governance and Regulation' Chair at Paris Dauphine University (PSL) has invited us to talk to two leading witnesses and players in the disruptive transformations brought about by these imperatives, which are being imposed on all the stakeholders in our societies and on public policies at every level, from the micro-local to the global.
Thomas Courbe, Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs, gave an account not only of his substantive vision of a number of key issues, but also of how France, in the European context, and the European Union, in the context of relations with the United States and China, can deploy effective strategies to ensure the emergence of regulatory frameworks and governance mechanisms that will enable us to defend our interests and our values.
Thierry Pech drew on his experience at the head of Terra Nova and, more recently, of the Citizens' Climate Convention, to share with us his thoughts on the imperatives of the ecological transition in terms of transforming our economic and social models, as well as the assessment that can be made of the original decision-making process represented by the Convention made up of citizens chosen by lot.
The conference was also an opportunity to salute and thank the Chair's partners, who support its activities and have decided to continue enabling it to develop: ENEDIS, RTE, SNCF, among the founding members since 2015; the ADP Group, ASFA, VINCI having joined the Chair in 2017; and finally, two new partners, RATP and Ecologic.
