Jacques Pelkmans is Professor at the College of Europe in Bruges and Senior Fellow at the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) in Brussels. He was Director of the Economics Department at the College of Europe, Chair of Business & Europe at the Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School, and member of the Scientific Council for Public Policy in The Hague (WRR, the Dutch Prime Minister's think tank). He was Professor of European Economic Integration at Maastricht University, Professor of Economics at the European University Institute in Florence, and Professor of Economics at the European Institute of Public Administration (Maastricht). He founded the European Institute of Asian Studies in Brussels in 1995. He has also been a visiting professor at numerous universities in Europe and the United States, and a consultant for ASEAN, the OECD, UNIDO, UNDP, UNCTAD, the World Bank and the European Commission. He is a specialist in European economic integration, network industries, ASEAN and technical standards.
