Breakfast debate on February, 21st 2019
The diversification of urban mobility is leading to new relationships between incumbent operators, new entrants, organising authorities and city users. At a time when different business models are coexisting, a new level of intervention by the public authorities is being added to public service management and delegation: "laissez faire". New forms of regulation of public spaces are needed to organise and balance the interplay of players, user safety and the management of the whole range of means of transport. In this context, the definition of a general framework favourable to innovation, in terms of usage, pricing and data processing, seems just as essential if mobility is to become a service in its own right.
This document summarises the presentations and discussions that took place at the breakfast on the theme of "Regulating urban mobility" organised by the Governance and Regulation Chair on 21 February 2019.
