Commissioner appointed by decree for a term of six years.
She holds a Masters in Environmental Management Science and Techniques. From 1998 to 2006, she was responsible for the Energy campaign run by Greenpeace France, for whom she also monitored international negotiations, lobbied for the development of European directives and French law, and coordinated inter-organisational actions. She also participated in the founding of Enercoop, a renewable energy supplier. From 2006 to 2008, she worked as an independent consultant, specialising in the fields of energy and the environment. Then, in December 2008, she took charge of coordination of the Europe Ecology Party’s campaign programme and content for the 2009 European elections. As part of that project, she coordinated the creation of the “Ecologist Contract for Europe”. In September 2009, she joined the cabinet of Denis Baupin, Deputy Mayor of Paris, as technical advisor in charge of monitoring electrical power concessions.
In April 2010, she was elected Regional Councillor for the Ile-de-France Region, where she was appointed Vice-president of the Environment, Agriculture and Energy. She leads the Energy Group at ARF (Association of Regions of France), amongst others.
Ms. Gassin has also written numerous articles published in La Revue Durable, Alternatives Economiques, Global Chance, L’Ecologiste, Cosmopolitiques and L’Atlas du Monde Diplomatique. She co-authored a book with Benjamin Dessus, published by Editions de l’Aube in February 2005: So watt ? L’énergie, une affaire de citoyens (“So Watt? Energy: A Civic Issue”).
