"The European Commission estimates that the energy transition will require annual investment of around €370 billion throughout the decade to 2020, or just over 2.5 points of GDP. What's more, 70% of this investment will have to be financed by the private sector, i.e. users and the productive system. With a view to decarbonisation, a large proportion of these investments will concern infrastructure in regulated sectors, in particular energy and transport, with the aim of improving their carbon footprint and the resilience of existing infrastructure. The conference will look at financing needs and the tools that can be envisaged to meet them, both financial and regulatory, with regulation consisting precisely in putting in place frameworks for remunerating investments that both protect investors and guarantee the general interest."
