Although they account for almost half of consumers' bills (excluding taxes), electricity network tariffs, and more specifically electricity distribution tariffs, have comparatively little been explored by energy economists, who have until now focused their studies on issues relating to electricity production, particularly from the angle of security of supply and the levers for developing renewable energies or 'decarbonising' electricity production.
