Jan Aart Scholte is Professor of Global Transformations and Governance Challenges at Leiden University and Co-Director of the Centre for Global Cooperation Research at the University of Duisburg-Essen. Previous posts were held at University of Gothenburg, University of Warwick, London School of Economics (Centennial Professor), Institute of Social Studies, and University of Sussex. He currently also (co-)convenes research projects on Legitimacy in Global Governance and Legitimacy beyond the State in Internet Governance. Recent publications include Contested Power and Authority in Internet Governance: A Return of the State? (co-editor, 2021), Hegemony and World Order: Reimagining Power in Global Politics (co-editor, 2020), Legitimacy in Global Governance: Sources, Processes, and Consequences (co-editor, 2018) as well as articles in Global Governance, International Theory, and Review of International Studies.
