Tammy JihHsuan Lin is a distinguished professor in the College of Communication at National Chengchi University (NCCU) in Taiwan. She stands out as a top 2% scientist dedicated to exploring the profound effects of immersive and communication technologies on human well-being. Her journey began when she received the world’s first commercialized virtual reality headset from HTC, sparking her commitment to examining how immersive technology influences both societal and individual wellness, alongside its governance and policy implications. Academically, she serves as the Associate Editor for the flagship journal, Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication (JCMC), and holds the presidency of the Taiwan Academy for Information Association.

Tammy Lin has devoted her research in immersive technology and co-develop the governance of virtual reality with tech giants. She won a globally competitive VR/AR policy award from Meta in 2022, and since has been a member of the Meta APAC Academic Network. Her team examined how cultural differences affect users' evaluations of multiplayer experiences in social VR and how designers and the platform should govern social VR. Tammy shared these insights as a speaker at Meta Connect 2024, held at Meta's headquarters in Menlo Park, California. She also serves as a policy council member for a global video platform.
Her research has received the top recognition in Taiwan including the Excellence Research Award and the Da-Yu Wu Young Scholar Research Award from Taiwan's National Technology and Science Counsel, emphasizes the intersection of communication technology and human well-being, including immersive technology, digital games, and social media. She has lent her expertise as an advisor on various government-led projects and policies, with a keen focus on development of employing immersive technology in education as national policy.

She is currently studying digital trust as a crucial focus area that guides the governance of emerging technologies across Taiwan, Singapore, and the United States. She and her international team plan to develop a governing framework of digital trust internationally.
In her leisure time, Tammy is an enthusiastic video game player, achieving the impressive feat of completing the game Nethack. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she utilized FitXR for exercise in VR. With perfect pitch, she plays the pipe organ and harbors a deep affection for jazz music, showcasing her multifaceted talents and passions.
