"The issue of banking and insurance regulation is at the heart of research and teaching at Université Paris-Dauphine-PSL, where it is also addressed through continuing education diplomas. It is multidisciplinary, involving both lawyers and economists.
The ACPR has considerable power to impose sanctions on banking and insurance institutions that fail to comply with the legal and regulatory requirements applicable to them. It is an essential part of the supervision and oversight of these sectors, which are regulated at national level. Historically, the vast majority of sanctions handed down by the Enforcement Committee have concerned breaches of anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT). They have gradually diversified and now also concern respect for customer rights.
This conference will look at the quantum of sanctions and the publication of sanctions, from the angle of legal and economic analysis of the practices of the Enforcement Committee, as well as banking and insurance regulation.
