Director and Head of Representation of the European Commission in France since September 2021, Valérie Drezet-Humez has 28 years' experience at the European Commission. 

Since 2010, she has held a number of positions in the Secretariat-General, including Head of Unit in charge of briefings for the President and Vice-Presidents, in direct contact with strategic priorities and current political events. Prior to this, she headed the team responsible for written, empowerment and delegation procedures, where she acquired in-depth knowledge of how the Commission operates and how decisions are taken. Previously, she was political assistant to the Deputy Secretary General and then to the Secretary General, after leaving the Directorate General for Translation where she was political assistant to the Director General.

She joined the European Commission in 1995, in the Directorate-General for the Environment, where she dealt with the industry and environment sectors, as well as strategic programming and coordination.

Valérie Drezet-Humez is a graduate of the Faculty of Law at the University of Lyon III, where she specialised in European Union law.
