"The Digital Services Act (DSA), or Regulation on Digital Services (RSN), approved by the Council of the European Union at the end of October 2022 for implementation at the beginning of October 2024, aims to strengthen the protection of European Internet users by imposing new obligations on digital operators in terms of content legality, transparency of recommendation and advertising mechanisms, and risks of disinformation. To comply with their new obligations, operators will have to undertake major and probably costly operational changes, as well as sharing commercially sensitive information such as algorithms and key data. Application of the DSA will be the responsibility of the national authorities, except in the case of very large operators, which will be supervised by the European Commission. To ensure that decisions are consistent, coordination will therefore be required between Member State regulators, the Commission and, where appropriate, the national authorities responsible for supervising the digital sector."
