Work platforms: issues and regulatory options

Work platforms have become an increasingly ubiquitous part of our daily lives, raising questions about employment law in more ways than one: are work platforms employers? Should platform workers be considered as employees? How should we view the role of algorithms in platform activity? 5G: Development of uses? Incentives to invest (ONLINE)

,

Mobile operators around the world have begun rolling out 5G. The fifth generation of mobile services promises a significant increase in speed (up to 1 Gb/s) and reductions in latency, enabling the development of crucial applications such as autonomous vehicles and intelligent energy distribution. 5G should also pave the way for a greener Internet of Things.

Debate - When digital meets energy

French event

In some countries, data centres already consume more electricity than households. In Ireland, for example, data centres consume more electricity than urban households. By 2028, with the emergence of generative AI, the electricity consumption of Irish DCs will exceed that of all the country's households. According to the European Commission, DC electricity consumption in the EU will increase by 28% between now and 2030, reaching 98.5 TWh.

Debate - Financing the resilience of infrastructures

The resilience of infrastructures is a key issue, as demonstrated by the bill on the resilience of critical infrastructures and the strengthening of cyber security tabled in mid-October. Infrastructures are exposed to increasing risks - natural, technological and man-made. Over and above the challenge of assessing investment needs to ensure resilience, the issue at stake is the financing of investments to ensure continuity of service and/or avoid the costs - both financial and human - associated with repairs following increasing climatic hazards.
